Gearing up for the final season?
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Here in Chicago, it's been gorgeous lately, but the smell of fall is definitely in the air. And you know what comes with autumn...the new television season. As a bit of a TV junkie, I have to admit that this is always an exciting time for me. I'm eager to see the new offerings on my television. And this year is a big one, isn't it?...Oprah is bidding a final farewell to her fans. I'm expecting a lot from her last season. I wonder how the show will differ from her previous 24 seasons. I didn't watch the show too much last year, to be absolutely honest. The Living Oprah project turned me off of day time TV for a little while. I was like a water-logged sponge that needed to be wrung out. But, I've gone through withdrawal and I'm recovered enough to stick my toe back in the waters of Talk. I'll be tuning into the first episode of Oprah's 25th and final season. Who's joining me on September 13?

I will be joining you! I've been watching Oprah more faithfully now that I have a PVR (like TiVo) that can record her shows for me. I don't know what to expect this final season, but I'd like to see her tackle some serious issues like how average people in America are handling the recession and how capitalism has shaped America.
I'm expecting it to be all fluff though. Things like makeovers/makeunders, stars saying goodbye, and retrospective pieces. If Oprah can get through one entire show without interrupting the guest and hurrying the guest along I think I'd be happy :)
LO, will you go to a live show again this year?
I can't imagine what America will be like without daily Oprah. She is a cultural touchstone for many women. I know a couple who are obsessed in an unhealthy way. The final year HAS to be all fluff, to wean these people successfully. They have to attach to someone else now. I think it would be a mistake for her to try to address weighty issues for that reason.
In a way, no other figure has been invested with so much power since FDR. I really believe she has changed our culture as profoundly as he did.
I just love this blog. My wife told me so much about this that I had to check it out...
Am thinking Oprah will be back. Remember there was a time Jay-z said he had retired from music then he came back.
There has been instances of super stars retiring from what they do then come back with a bang.
Life will not be the same without her but maybe due to public demand, we shall have her back.
I also, will be joining you watching the show. I love oprah Winfrey and everything she stands for. Oprah if you read this, I wish you the best of what's to ome in your life.
May GOD bless you always, your fan Shivon
I am with Shivan....I love Oprah....I have been thinking about starting my own blog page"Loving Oprah." I think the public will beg for an encore from Oprah.....and she deserves a great big encore. I have watched Oprah on and off ever since she started her talk show....all through my 25 years as a stay at home Mom....through my 30's, my 40's...and now into my 50's. The last few years she helped me and millions of women breeze ...(well...not exactly Breeze ...ha)through menopause! I skyped with Oprah and Eckhart through the book "A New Earth".....quit my job...sold my house and took my adult children to Maui for the winter....yes....Oprah has been a big influence in my life. I know it seems strange to say you love a person you have never met...never had a two way relationship with....but she has put herself out there for people...she has offered friendship to all who invite her into their homes....and I have...often on a daily basis. She is open, honest, intelligent...and she cares about people.....yes...I am going to start a "loving oprah.com blog." Watch for it in the next few days...and please join me! Thanks Oprah!!!! Cindy
Hi Guys...just started a blog page...which will be a work in progress....please join me! Thanks! Cindy Lou
I will definitely be watching the final season. Maybe she will be like Jay Leno and come back to star in a different show. I love Oprah. She tackles so many subjects. I can't wait for Monday!!
I love Oprah too!
What a surprise that Oprah started the season off with the extravagance of taking her entire audience to Australia. It's come light though that she is not footing the bill for it--the Australia Tourism office is. How does everyone feel about that?
season greetings?.... :)
im reading your book now. when my 10 year old heard what oprah said about cats- a woman that has a husband can have as many cats as she liked- she asked me, if this is because the husband will be taking care of the cats... :)
i dont have a t.v, ( glued to my computer instead...) so i dont wathc oprah. used to have t.v and watched for few years...
When my VCR broke in May, I was no longer able to tape the Oprah show every day, but i wasn't too concerned because I know that during the summer months, they just show reruns. But when i realized that the new season was starting, i quickly exchanged by cable box for one that records.
I, too, LOVE Oprah Winfrey, even though I don't know her personally, and she doesn't know i exist. I have watched her help so many people over these many years, and she seems to be one of the most generous people on the planet. I think it was the 4th show this season, where she was again making some deserving people's dreams come true, and I sat there, once again, crying on my couch. Geez, i even cry during those wonderful makeover shows!!
The only reason i'm not sad that Oprah is ending this show, is because the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)will be on the air beginning in 2011. It makes me happy to know that i'll still be able to keep up will all of the great things that Oprah will surely be doing in the future.
Oprah is very admiring and very known with good personally internationally.
Thumbs up to her!
I just found out about your blog and I think your idea is fantastic. I used to watch Oprah when I lived in Montreal, CAnada and for nine years I never missed a show. Oprah has been soooo inspiring and her shows have helped me to deal with issues in my life. I really miss the show and I don"t know why we don't get it here in Paris.
Thank you again for this blog.
I have watched Oprah since she became a syndicated show and admired her from afar. Eventually, I offered my dog-sitting, house-sitting, plant care services...never heard from Oprah. I would like to get one little handwritten letter from Oprah. I listened to one of her talks at Glide (Church) in San Francisco. My question would be, "How do you keep your relationship alive through the years?
