Today's show was adorable. Men getting makeovers. Tim Gunn could do just about anything on TV and I'd enjoy it. (I just got the shivers, remembering it's the Project Runway finale tonight.) And how about that Carson Kressley? If you read my blog last year while I was doing the project, you probably heard me gush about how he's my imaginary BFF.

I was really excited that Oprah sent her male makeover victims to Halo for grooming. This is a Chicago salon that is geared specifically to men. I once sent Jim there as a treat. He came back shell shocked. In addition to his haircut, he got a hand massage and paraffin wax, hot towel and facial toner. He looked confused when he got home and kept looking at his hands saying, "This feels weird. What did they do to me?" He did not like it one bit. Remind me to tell you about the time I successfully begged him to get a pedicure with me. I've never seen anyone get a pedi and NOT sit back in the seat, he was so tense and freaked out.

Anyhow, today was sweet. Nice jeans all around. Hilarious was the transformation of a man who got the worst makeover EVER on Oprah's stage in 1990. Oprah kept apologizing to the guy. I keep looking at the picture on her website and laughing. I can't decide what's the worse part of it. The parachute pants? The red socks? The purse? Well, it doesn't matter. It's all better now - he was also given an update and looked great.

Another fluffy show, but fun. For those of you who like issue-based episodes, this might not be for you...but if you'd like a little escapism, this might be right up your alley.

OOOH! Reminder - for those of you who are friends with me on Facebook, don't forget - I'm going to kick off a little Thanksgiving contest later today. My publisher has very kindly allowed me to give away a copy of my book to the winner. I LOVE getting free stuff but I'm even more excited that I actually get to give something away. Check in later!

My husband has to deal with a lot of female office staff in his sales job. He notices that they are much nicer when he wears a patterned shirt or a light pastel, like pink, coral, soft green, or sky blue. He gets bonus points with them when he says that his wife picked it out. Dark shirts or white shirts are very severe on him. An approachable nice guy look helps so much!

LO, I'm like your husband, I am bewildered by salon treatment. No thanks! Give me a cute haircut fast and get me out of there!

That is awesome. I am trying not to guffaw at that poor guy in 1990. How kind of them to bring him back and do it right! Then again, I'm sure he looked fly back in the day.
I lurve salon treatments and happily so does my hubby. I send him to a massage about once a year and a facial if I have a coupon! I think the mani/pedi might be a bridge too far though...

susie! it is not stalking until i get a restraining order. until then, i love hearing from you. i think that's good feedback about how well your husband is treated when he dresses a certain way.

memegrl, hi! i know, that picture is HILARIOUS, isn't it? i love the guy's sense of humor. jim digs massage and reflexology...but anything that might 'prettify' him is terror-inducing. i used to be that way, but i fully adore pampering now. it's such a rare luxury that i love every peaceful moment.

Loved the show. Three words for you: Hot cowboy, much?!!

I think that the socks were the worst part of the old makeover by far!

My husband got a pedi a couple of years ago while on vacation with friends. He was staying for free at the 4 seasons and decided to take advantage of the spa. I couldn't have been more surprised!

I was doing that double-sock thing back in 1990 but I was in 5th grade girl! That picture just made my day. He must have had a wonderful sense of humor to do it the first time and to come back again. Love it.
I wonder how the other people on that show looked? And how he looked before? It would be fun to put together a montage of old before and afters and see what stands the test of time.

I got my picture with Carson at Bethel Woods last summer when the True Colors tour came to town. He was very orange but he smelled good, and he gave me a free tank top. That's not an euphamism, he really gave me a free tank top.

Hey, I paid for James and I to get a massage and foot massage (which included a pedicure) the morning of my wedding!

Unless, he wimped out on the foot thing (we weren't in the same room).
