Dancin' in the streets

Hey gang, anyone in Chicago going to the giant street party that will launch Oprah's 24th (and contractually, her second-to-LAST) season? Here's info about the event if you need it. I wish I could join you but I have a dentist appointment the morning of the 8th. Viva la dental hygiene!

I'd love to hear about it, if you decide to go...I could even post some of your pictures and quotes here, if you'd like.

Today I'm going to see some book cover designs for Living Oprah. Woo! I'll let you know how it goes.

Happy September to you -- have a great day.

Hello everyone, Im a big fan of oprah for many years and Ive made few attempts to get a ticket for the studio taping but no luck so this Michigan ave. kick-off party is the chance Ive been waiting for. Luckilly, I am from Chicago so being there as early as possible to what I imagine thousands of people lining up for the 12pm gate opening. I just wonder how early is early? SInce it was stated that overnight camping is not allowed, I am really curious as to what is the smartest thing to do to make sure you get a good spot. I would like to get some tips from all the women/men out there who's been in a jam-packed street party.I wanna reach out to any group who might be open in taking someone like me to join them on this day, im willing to make plans with you guys as to how were gonna get there and survive the long hours of waiting (water, food, umbrella, ponchos, not to mention saving your spot when you need to go potty)It's hard to be by myself, what if I faint, lol=) I always believe , the more , the merrier.

HELP!!! I WANT TO BE THE EARLIEST BIRD =)

I went to the kickoff and it was long. had a good time but me and my girlfriend left and went to Navy Pier for awhile to cool off and luckily we missed participating in the dance performance. After hearing the new theme song and perky dance teachers repeatedly teach the dance we were gald that we left for a break. Funny thing is that we left, came back and ended up in a closer than we had left.

All the performances were great but hearing thousands of people singing with James Taylor crooning "You've Got a Friend" was heavenly.
