Will Oprah Rock?

We have a mandate, people! We cannot miss Oprah's appearance on 30 Rock this evening. She told us to "tune in tonight!" I love the show anyhow, so while some assignments cause me to break into a cold sweat, this one is easy as pie.

Tina Fey was on the show for a short visit this morning. She talked a bit about working with Oprah and also her stint doing a dead-on impersonation of Sarah Palin. Y'all know I admire the writer/actress quite a bit. In fact, you might remember that she even has a prime spot on my Oprah-advised vision board. I put her on there because I feel I can learn a lot about building my own career as a writer, by watching her trajectory from Chicago improvisor to a producer/writer who can create her own projects. Interesting, isn't it - now that Tina is on my vision board, she's also appeared on the Oprah show several times AND Oprah will be seen tonight on Tina's show. COINCIDENCE?! Yeah, yeah...it's totally a coincidence.

Next up! Will Smith - who Oprah looooooves - made an appearance. Regarding his new movie, 7 Pounds, Oprah said, "There's 7 seconds in this film that will change your life forever." Whoa. Seriously. Whoa. That's a pretty big statement. I'm a little doubtful, since the last film she sent me to was Madagascar 2, but I'm open. The film premiers December 19th and between that day and the end of the year, I'll watch the movie and let you know how my existence has been altered.

For those who watched already, wasn't it interesting how 'playfully' annoyed Smith got when Oprah had to keep cutting to commercial? There are lots and lots of ads toward the end of the show and he kept getting cut short for them. Now he knows how we all feel. As I had toward the end of this year of Living Oprah, one side-effect I've faced as a result of this experiment: I know more jingles than I even thought I had space for in my brain. They've become the new soundtrack for my life.

OH! I got an email this morning entitled, "Private Invitation: Shop all new theOprahstore.com!‏" Jealous? That's right, I've been privately invited to spend my money on "O"-emblazened tote bags and t-shirts on Oprah's website. Green with envy much? Well, good for you! Oprah says green is her favorite color. She says it's because it's the color of life, but you can interpret it anyway you like...

Have a great day everyone.

I <3 Will too (He's a hometown homie). I have to say the clip of Tina Fey asking O to announce "Liz Leeeeemmmmoonnnn" has me ROFL every time I see it. I think only a few people could convince O make fun of herself, and I'm glad it's her (Tina).

I hate to fill space with complaints but todays show annoyed me two ways. 1st, Did anyone else notice how awkward the interview with TF was? When she was obviously urging Tina to continue to compliment her on how good she was on 30 Rock (BLAH!) Then (#2) sitting down w/ her most annoying fellow Scientologist friend, Will Smith. (I know it is not confirmed that she IS a Scientologist but come on..she's definitely dipping her toes in it). And I puke in my mouth a bit when I hear the Fresh Prince teach me on the "Life-Birth-Rebirth" teaching of Zenu 101.

A bit sarcastic I'd say. Many of us love Oprah and what she's done all her years of service; and yes she's wealthy but certaintly deserves to be with all of the millions of people she has joined with and helped. It's alright though; we all feel that way sometimes. A friend.

Hi Robyn. I got one of those private invites to the Oprah web store too. I don't remember signing up for anything. I have visited her regular site a few times when you've asked me to. That's been my only contact, from what I can remember. How do you think I got on this invite list? Where did they get my email address from? I'm curious. And a little concerned.

Oprah's not a scientologist but she has to be nice to them because she depends on these celebrities for ratings. Oprah believes in the teachings of "A NEW EARTH" which argues that God is a FEELING (the combined awareness of all living things) and that we shouldn't label ourselves one religion or another because that leads to dogma and judgement.

Will Smith is scientology's Obama insurance. He will be replacing Tom Cruise as a scientology poster boy for the next 4 years or so. Today on Oprah, he was doing scientology public relations by cryptically talking scientology think.
Hopefully, Will will wake up soon and have the sense to leave the cult.

I have to say that I do NOT think anything is a coincidence. You bring together the things you focus your energy on. Look at what America did for a certain senator from Illinois! It's synergy/synchronicity, etc. I do not even watch Oprah and am so fascinated by your experiment I keep checking in to see how you're doing :)

The ads at the end of the show REALLY annoy me, so if I do sit down to watch he show I generally turn it off after the first half an hour or so. It seems towards the end there's only about a minute of show in between all the commercials! Even though I have TiVo and can flip past them it's still annoying to have to keep doing that.

I think Will Smith is SO cute. I didn't know he was a scientologist though...

I am excited for two of my favorite things together: 30 rock and Oprah. And she is just on a high from the election, isn't she? wow. she just seems so happy.

I thought Oprah did well on 30 Rock. I love 30 Rock anyways, and Tina Fey is hilarious! I thought the Favorite Things part, combined with the idea of the big O was super funny. I won't ruin the "twist" for people who didn't see it...So funny. :)I generally can't get through an episode of 30 Rock without laughing so hard I have to rewind and watch certain parts again.

Also, again with election talk. She IS really on a high about the election. Hey, that's cool...whatever--It was just a day or two ago, but still--Something tells me we are going to be hearing about it...in great detail...for quite a long time. I'm picturing Friday's show with everyone "oohing" and "aahing."

And with Will Smith--I had no idea there was a Scientology affiliation, but I guess he seems to hang out with Tom Cruise and fam. quite a bit...Hmmm...Lots of Scientologists in the entertainment biz, I guess, esp. in Cal.

I think it's sick of the anonymous poster who signs himself "Quentin Hubbard", when the real person by that name died of suicide at age 22 in the 1970's.

I don't normally watch 30 Rock, but wanted to complete this assignment with you. I thought it was hilarious and really enjoyed the twist. (I also enjoyed hearing some very funny lines comes from Oprah's mouth. Like: I had champagne once at my cousin's wedding.) For the most part, she was just herself. I think a true version of herself (calm and without the exagerated speech of her show).

It's day 2 and everything is still about Obama's race. I dislike how Oprah said race doesn't matter, yet all of her behavior after the elections was about race.

I think Barack Obama is not black, I think he is Half White and Half Black, which makes him a multicultural person. Both of his parents are very educated, and he also values education. He went to very good schools. Even if only by education, he's parents were upper class and so is he.

He repeatedly said, that his family is multicultural. Why wouldn't Oprah acknowledge his multicultural roots? Everything else seems forgotten, now the only price is race, not the values. I don't think it's fair for her to say the first black president. If she can say that, then I can say, another white president. Why can't she say a Multicultural President, just like our nation? Why does she say he's going to inspire black boys to succeed, how about boys and girls of all races.
I bet all those supporters in Europe and on other continents looked beyond race, and fell in love with the person and his family and his policy not race. He has a vision, why isn't she talking about that, and about the influence he will have on our nation as a whole.
I generally overlook race, and focus on person's behavior. By observing Obama, I feel he's very similar to my culture (speech, values, education etc.). I feel he can represent me. Race alone doesn't matter.

I'm looking forward to seeing 7 Pounds, I like adventurous movies like that and I love Will Smith's portrayal of many characters. Will Smith (just like Obama) is a proof that if you have talent and if you work hard you'll make it. No matter what race.

melissa--yea, WS is like the new poster boy for that religion (he even recently funded a school that follows their teachings. (And just look at her other close friends (Tom Cruise, She just went to the Katie Holmes play, she parties with the Travolta's and promoted the hell out of Wild Hogs and Hairspray, and she even had Jason Lee on for no reason a while back and how about Percilla Preseley and Lisa "we're cousins" Marie). She's never had Nicole Kidman on since the divorce or has ever done any shows on the topic which strikes me as odd. She glossed over when she was talking to Tom too.
Sorry to go on about this but the topic and these connections fascinate me (the secrecy of it all). I've read a lot in passing & Will was saying things word for word from their "How to Raise children" literature. I'll have to get a transcript of that and compare side by side for solid evidence.

Oprah is such a rightard, and if Scientology cultist Will Smith wants to jump on her couch, they're perfect for each other.

To Paula,
As I am anonymous, you don't know if I am male or female. And if I am male, and my name really is Quentin Hubbard, your saying that I committed suicide in the 1970's at age 22 is nonsense because I am commenting here and now. So, who is this other Quentin Hubbard? Did you know him?
