I was supposed to take my road trip to Indiana today to see Celine in concert ('member when Oprah said if we hadn't, we "MUST"?). I got an email last night saying that Dion had postponed her world tour due to "recurrent naso-pharyngeal infection which was further complicated by inflamed vocal chords." I think that means she has a cold, basically. Anyhow, I was hoping to surprise all of you with the tales of the concert on Monday morning, but now those stories will be postponed for a few weeks.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

She managed to screech her way through her show here in Ottawa.
What happens if she cancels her shows past the end of the project? Just asking.
Oh, poor Celine. I know you don't like her music... but I'm a classically trained vocalist. I know from experience, unfortunately, that what she's got is much more involved than a mere cold.
Regardless of whether you like her music or not, she's a very talented woman and performer. From someone who knows how much music and singing means to her, I wish her a speedy recovery.
Did you record this delay in your gratitude journal?
nat, good question. right now her show is rescheduled in december, so as long as it's not postponed again, i'll be able to go. i'm not sure how i'll deal with it otherwise, to be honest!
abby, i can relate to what she's going thru, too. when i used to be a stage actress, the most awful thing was doing a performance when ill. she's lucky she has the luxury to heal without forcing her way thru a show. although, as you pointed out, i reeeeeeaaalllllly don't like her music, i definitely don't wish her ill.
american_girl, LOL. brill.
xoLO
Celine's style is definitely not for everyone. I can respect your difference in taste.
From what I know of her though, it's highly unusual for her to cancel shows. She said on Oprah that she even performed the night after her father died. (That poor audience.. I'm sure they wanted their money back.. ) So, she must be REALLY sick to cancel or even postpone a show.
I always get nervous when I hear of vocalists having troubles like this... it makes me think of Julie Andrews. I still can't get over the loss of her voice.... ooh, it's giving me the willies just thinking about it.
omg abby, that clip from her show when her dad died was so painful to watch. i felt awful for her, of course, but her poor audience, too! i imagined couples sitting there, all lovey-dovey, on their honeymoons having their nights totally wrecked. i know it was cathartic to her, but if that was my big trip to vegas, i would have been pretty bummed out with that show! xoLO
Hello,
Don't know if you were aware that today the British newspaper "The Sunday telegraph" listed your blog as one of the top blogs for women. Really like your site - very funny. Sadly we only get Oprah shows ages after they have aired in the US, but I look forward to seeing how your experiment pans out.

g! oh my gosh. i had no idea! how exciting is that? thank you so much for letting me know. is this in the paper, or online? i'd love to take a look!
best to you, xoLO
ps. do you know how far behind your O shows air after we see ours?
Hi,
The article is called "20 blogs for girls" and is a shortlist of "the 20 best blogs by and for women".
The Telegraph is a broadsheet newspaper and this article is in the Sunday Magazine called "Stella". I don't think it's online but I can send you the mag if you want?
There is only one channel that shows Oprah. It's an obscure cable channel and the episodes are all over the place with lots of repeats about 6 months or more behind. I don't understand why. The show used to be on network TV and got good ratings - maybe I should start my own blog "GetOprahOnUKTV.com"!

g, i would be forever in your debt! will you drop me a line: livingoprah@live.com and i can give you my mailing information and you can tell me where to send $ for postage. i am so grateful for the offer.
years ago, i went to college (briefly) in london and we saw oprah back on tv then. i am surprised to hear that there is less of her now than there was many many moons ago.
LOL - i think you SHOULD start the blog!
best to you, LO
Perhaps the Universe heard your psychic screams??
I will send positive thoughts to Celine, but also hold out hope that the concert is scheduled post Jan. 1st!
Enjoy your weekend! ;-)
Just days since Obama was elected, and things are already turning around! Who said the world wouldn't become a better place?
Just kidding and I know how you feel about Celine, but I saw her in Vegas and she puts on a good show. I went in not wanted to enjoy it, but I did. I hope you have the same experience when it's rescheduled.
Hi
I have started reading your blog having seen it mentioned in Stella Magazine. Will enjoy looking back over previous posts. I wish more Oprah was on British TV as well.
Playing my mini-violin for ya. I know your very upset.
I am so glad they are trying to reschedule this!
