Today's show was Oprah's fantasy - a reunion of the entire The Mary Tyler Moore Show cast on sets rebuilt to mirror the originals. It was a really emotional show, I thought. Oprah was clearly touched to see Moore, whose performance as Mary Richards in the 70s inspired her career and future (not to mention fashion choices). More emotional for me, was seeing the entire cast, decades later, still so touched by their work, their friendship, and the death of Ted Knight in 1986. Although I was too young to watch MTM during its first run - it began in 1970, when I was -2 years old - I did watch it in reruns and even got to repeat the iconic beret toss at the beginning of a play I performed in several years ago. It was a history-making program that definitely withstood the test of time.
Today's show was not only fun...it didn't include any assignments! Woohoo!
And very good news, my graduation was this weekend and I can return to my accounting of Living Oprah. Sorry for those of you who are waiting on the numbers. I'm going to put my nose to the grindstone to get those tabulated. I have receipts and notes and Excel spreadsheets to deal with and then my numbers are all yours to peruse...Thanks a ton for your patience!

LOVED the show; planned on watching it no matter what your review was like (grin)...I also grew up on MTM reruns! And I *still* have my wooden M from "back in the day"....just like MTM had!

i am so glad you loved it, MTV! that's awesome - and how cool about the wooden M! xo LO
Am I the only one who was bothered by the "1000s of man-hours" (not to mention all of the money) that was spent to make the sets for this 1-hour show? Oprah does a lot of good in the world through her charities, but this struck me as an egregious waste of resources.
I did enjoy seeing how moved she was by being with Mary and the rest of the cast.
Emily, I am totally in the same boat as you - this has been happening A LOT this season. The sets are CRAZY! Remember the Cosby show recreation? The Cold Stone Creamery and Christian Louboutin store recreations? Her show has money to burn...
