Hooray for the Hoarder Lady!

I joined in the collective sigh of relief today when I saw Sharyn and Marvin hadn't backslid into their clutter habit. Their home actually looked WAY neater than mine.

Today was one of those easy shows to watch. I find this type of episode mind-numbingly relaxing. I bet I could watch a marathon of them without leaving the comfortable divot that my butt has molded into my couch by watching so much Oprah this year.

I like seeing follow ups to stories I've seen in the past and they picked a good smattering of them. I was struck however, during the follow up with the hilarious Tom Cruise fanatic that the giant-toothed star would be on the show this Friday AND next Monday. Hasn't that man had enough Oprah air time?! I bet his insanity on the couch from his last visit to Harpo Studios is still fresh in everyone's minds and his reappearance on the show will shoot ratings through the roof. I, for one, will be waiting for him to do something or say something ridiculous.

I was also surprised it took almost 4 months to revisit Oprah and Bob Greene's Best Life Challenge episode in Mississippi. Such a HUGE deal was made out of Oprah and Greene getting America healthy and fit, that I've been disappointed there has been so little commitment to make it a running theme this year on the show.

I was thrilled, of course, to see two of the folks from the original episode have stuck with the program and have lost weight and are even working out together. However, why aren't we seeing more of this on the air? I just checked out today's episode recap online and the Best Life Challenge segment isn't even mentioned. Is Oprah so busy these days that this rather important topic has fallen by the wayside? Or do you think she's left the subject on the backburner by choice?

I too am surprised at the lack of the Best Life Challenge, I wonder if Bob Greene ever feels ousted by Tolle!

I signed up for it, half-heartedly, but still...and I haven't seen an email or tips or anything in a LOOOONGGG time. I was hoping for recipes in my inbox, fun or different exercises...something. I'm sure its on the website, but come on! I thought they were supposed to be helping us?

hey hixx, i get some emails...not often...every now and then one dribbles in with a recipe or a tip. it's rare though. you have to choose to get the mail on the best life challenge website. it's really dusty old information - nothing new that we haven't heard. honestly, the only way to get real support and help is to pay for the program on bob green's site - it is approx $5/week with a 3-month minimum. so much for the helping hand...

I was surprised that we hadn't heard anything about it either. I really enjoyed last season's episodes that talked about healthier eating options with Bob. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but I have noticed that Oprah is bigger this season, maybe she doesn't want to do shows on fitness/diet until she loses some of the weight she has put on.

MKC - i have a sneaking suspicion your theory is right. either she has decided she wants to wait, or her producers are tiptoeing around scheduling the subject until she gets a better handle on her health.
Best,

Hey LO,
I don't know what happened but I left a comment yesterday and it's no where to be found on your site (??) Anyway, my comment basically said that I wonder if the fact that Oprah has hypothyroidism has anything to do with it, or the fact that she's been having big stories (e.g., the pregnant man) take other shows "places." Ah well.

hey jax. i don't know what happened to your comment! i certainly didn't zap it off the site. regarding the thyroid...oprah has said several times now that her thyroid is completely under control and that it isn't what is affecting her weight. she's mentioned lately she's having a hard time with it. i get the sense that it's really the food addiction which is her biggest obstacle. i feel her pain, but she can do it...it must be so hard since she manages to conquer everything else she puts her mind to. this is her mountain to climb, i guess.

ah yes - the pregnant man who's doing vaginal birth takes up LOTS of time!
