My boogie shoes

I'll admit that watching today's show made me want to shake my booty. Last night, my husband and I were tossing around the idea of taking some sort of dance class, so maybe it is in my near future. I was secretly hoping Oprah would tell us all to take up ballroom dancing, but alas, I'm on my own with that one. I've noticed a pattern: if I hope and pray Oprah doesn't suggest we complete a task, she will. And on the other hand, if I desperately want her do send me to do something fun, she doesn't. I am clearly not using the Law of Attraction to my utmost advantage yet!

I just wanted to check in on a couple of ongoing Living Oprah projects and let you know how things are progressing. I am reading A New Earth. Slowly but surely. It's all stuff I've heard many times before, but it's still refreshing. I'm also working on decluttering my whole home. It's going well. I'm either giving away or throwing away tons of stuff that's been taking up space for the past five years. That makes me feel lighter. I'm doing a little bit every day. I am also reading Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and loving it. On the clothing front, I have a new pair of pants I need to bring to the tailor and several items that I need to purchase. On the health front, the Best Life Challenge is going well - food and exercise are all consistent and I'm staying healthy and the pantry is stocked with good food choices. I am on Dr. Oz's daily vitamin regimen, as well as his anti-aging program. Good news - my "real age" is now 29.5. That's 5.5 years younger than my actual age. I'm going to keep this up and I have my eye on 25. On the financial front, I'm dealing with my money with the help of Suze Orman's myFico program. Today I'll be creating my bill reminders on that website. I'm also reading Women & Money (the copy that Oprah had us download from her website). I guess that's it. The other tasks aren't long term projects and have been checked off the list once they're complete. I think the only outstanding task I have is seeing "Horton Hears a Who" - but am already planning on going with a friend and her young daughter once the movie opens.

Wow. I'm glad I wrote that out for you. I was feeling kind of stressed, like I wasn't getting stuff done, but I really am doing ok here. I also look to the website or magazines whenever I do something new or need advice. This happens on a daily basis. I even followed advice on Oprah.com about how to put on makeup when I went to her show! And although my poor husband has no idea (Unless he's reading this now. Hi hun! Can you clean the litter box?), I've decided to delve into some couple's advice on the site. We will be experimenting with the "Intentional Dialogue Exercise." Watch out world, we're going to learn to communicate like there's no tomorrow. And if it doesn't work, I'm sure we'll find an article on how to pick up the shattered shards of our relationship. Go team!

when i read that Oprah said to read, "women's bodies, women's wisdom," i got really excited. how unexpectedly forward thinking of her! and then i realized that i was remembering the wrong title. i was thinking of, "Woman: An Intimate Geography" by Natalie Angier. i know i'm not Oprah, but it's far more enlightening than wb,ww. enjoy :)

Wow, everything in "A New Earth" was something you'd already heard before? It blew my mind the first time I read it. It really affected me. Some of it was stuff that I had heard before but didn't really understand until I read that book, but a lot of it was fresh territory for me.

I am enjoying your blog! This reminds me of when Oprah first started her magazine...I subscribed for a few years then didn't renew.
I was going through a messy break up with my children's father---I used Oprah's advice in her magazines to get back on my feet because I was going through a lot of esteem issues, etc. I kept a written journal specifically for the "O" advice....
I don't know where that journal is now--but it would be interesting to review.
