I love Living Oprah. I love my life.

I totally believe in the power of positive thinking and somewhat in the Law of Attraction. I learned on the show today, though, that I don't need to be completely convinced in order to start aligning my 'vibrations' to get everything I need out of life. Oprah says she's known about the Law for quite some time. I believe what she says because in order to build her life up from nothing, she had to have her eye on the prize and know in her heart she could have all the success she desired. One of the tools Oprah advocated via the guests on her show (Louise Hay, Martha Beck, and Cheryl Richardson) was the creation of a vision board.

I have never been open to making one of these before. It always seemed a little cheesy, but it does bring me fondly back to my 'tween and teen years when I made collages of things I loved. Today I am heeding the message and I'll be creating one of my own. I'm a little embarrassed by it, but I'll display it proudly in our home office. I'm even almost convinced of its efficacy. Richardson suggested an exercise to a doubter in the audience and I'm going to start off small as she advised.

Scallops in green curry sauce for dinner tonight. Why must the recipes on Oprah's website be so labor intensive?! I mean, so far, they've been pretty tasty, but it takes FOREVER to cook dinner. Much of my free time is taken searching for ingredients and preparing meals. I'm guessing Ms. Winfrey doesn't spend as much time as I do, sweating over a hot stove, when she wants to eat the dishes she's promoting. It's just not realistic for most of us busy gals to do.

Did Oprah split ways with Rachel Ray? I was never a giant fan of the super-perky cook, but at least she taught us to make meals in less than a half an hour. Why aren't her recipes on the site? I searched and searched and only found a few. And they didn't appeal at all.

My fantasy of my "best life" does include eating succulent, mouth-watering food, but I certainly never imagined I'd be doing all the work! Maybe I should put a photo of Oprah's old chef, Art Smith on my vision board, eh?

I didn't erase today's show from my DVR because I really want to watch it again. I read The Power of Positive Thinking by Anthony Robbins ages ago, and it stayed with me.

However, I was so struck by the notion that Oprah's employee gave her a gift that she didn't even recollect ever having SEEN before, much less remember getting. And then I was further struck that Oprah talked about it as if that was a perfectly natural thing to admit. She didn't even act horrified that she had accidently admitted to said employee that she had no clue where the bubbles came from or that she hadn't even noticed that they had been sitting there all along.

I couldn't enjoy the rest of the show because I was too wrapped up in sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Oprah to apologize or explain why she hadn't known about the gift. Hours later, I still haven't recovered from the whole Bubble Incident.

Personally, I think the universe was trying to tell Oprah that she needs to SEE and appreciate the things that are right in front of her.

I really admire Oprah and I had this wild fantasy that she still writes all of her own thank you notes. Apparently not.

Sorry, Anthony Robbins didn't write that book. I think it was someone else. I told you the Bubble Incident had me sideways.

CHRISTY!!! I am sooooooooo glad you mentioned that about Oprah and her assistant. I was HORRIFIED. I found it equally distracting and even watched that section of the show twice, in hopes that I missed something the first time around. Nope.

You are so funny, though - I love that it took you hours to recover from that moment. You made me laugh out loud!

WOW. I am watching the 11:00 repeat of today's Oprah. I would NEVER tell that bubble story without saying "I can't believe I never noticed them" or "I was so embarassed."

On another note, a good friend of mine was a guest in the Oprah audience today. Yes, during the huge snow storm. She was there at 7:00am and the show featured Rick Springfield (be still my heart!), David Cassiday, Henry Winkler, and the Cosby Show cast. It ran so long, they split it into 2 shows. Oprah even did a wardrobe change so it wasn't obvious! PLUS, every audience member got all 8 seasons of The Cosby Show on DVD. Interestingly, Oprah did a rant to the audience about how she got very little sleep last night because she was watching election returns and was quite disappointed.

Oohhh...The Power of Positive Thinking....hmm...I think I will add that one to my list of "to read". I did read The Secret a few years ago when she was promoting that one.

I am a Mary Kay Consultant--not really active, but I do sell every now and again. Our leaders tell us to make those vision boards every year at our regional meeting---I have yet to do one.
