And the crowd goes crazy

Hi all. I was lucky enough to be in the audience of the show today. I'll let you know more about the topic and guest when it airs. I was swept up by the amount of emotion in that studio audience. Women were literally weeping when Oprah walked in. There was more jumping up and applauding than at a Presidential State of the Union Address. Well, at least this clapping was sincere and unmotivated by political gain. Still, I was taken aback by the extraordinary excitement over Oprah. Oprah was kind and warm. Much more so than I ever witnessed when I was in her audience before. But, when we were applauding and standing and hooting, she repeated "Get over yourselves, get over yourselves!" She said this several times. I don't think she meant it in an insulting way, I think she was just trying to calm the screamers down, but it was really an odd thing to say. Plus, the audience wranglers had just directed us to get as excited as we could muster.

At the end of the show, after Oprah left for a clothing change and probably a foot massage (she was wearing her 10 minute shoes), one producer thanked us for coming and said, "And you know where to go now!" And about 1/2 the audience yelled back, "The Oprah Store!!" And then she told everyone how to get there. As I was ushered out of the studio, I joined the assembly line of people picking up their checked coats and belongings, taking their free gift (woohoo, gift!), and walking out the door in a pack toward the store.

I steered clear of the emporium today as I only had a short window of time and wanted to have more freedom to make my visit to the boutique any length I desired. Plus, with all the people who made a beeline there right after the taping, I'd have WAY too much company. Keep an eye out however - I'll be visiting soon.

Oprah's assignment, from her show which aired today, was in conjunction with Dr. Oz who said they want us to stop drinking non-diet soda. Lucky for me, I have finished this assignment by default as I don't drink soda. Sweet! (No pun intended). But, for those out there, trying to live your "best life," put down that can and make yourself a cup of green tea. I hear they sell O mugs and her favorite tea at the Oprah store, if you're in need.

just wondering... how were audience members seated when entering the studio? when I attended a taping a few years ago, the "beautiful people" were given passes for the front rows and all the plain old ordinary folk got the leftovers

anon,
that is exactly what happened this time, from my viewpoint. i am so glad i dressed as well as i could. they also really liked couples and duos of girlfriends, looking well put together. i was on my own and luckily could fill a good seat. because i was part of the "special fan" group, they had me send them a photo before i was actually invited to sit in the audience.

there was one guy who was a mess and in a sweatshirt and jeans and he was stuck way up in the back. i felt like they were hiding him from the cameras!
